So, we’ve had a huge life event happen.

Michael has accepted a position in Chicago, effective a few days ago.

Yup, that’s a big life change for us.

A few weeks ago, my parents babysat the 3 kids and Michael and I booked a 3 day trip to move him into an apartment there. I came home, alone..

For the Spring, he will work in Chicago and commute to Texas on the weekends.

I have moved several times in my life

growing up in Switzerland

moving to Lebanon at the vulnerable age of 12

states at 23 on my own

London with Michael for 3 years with a brand new baby

Toronto for a year with 2 little babies

now Dallas

It’s a lot. Not every place was great, some were, others not..

We love Texas so it would be sad to go when the time comes.

Anyway, these are just the first days, and I hope it will get easier over time. It really puts you in the shoes of single parents for a moment and how strong they are to cope with the weight of carrying the children on their own for so much of the time. Not easy.

So, deep breath! I think we can do this, write to me and let me know if you are familiar with this kind of situation and if you have any tips, I would love to hear your suggestions…

Sometimes the best times are when we stay around the house, especially if it’s as gorgeous as the one we stayed in at Saint Paul De Vence ! How dreamy are these gardens though?!

We loved smelling all the roses and lavender in the garden. The children even gathered some lavender and put them into little cloth pouches to keep under their pillows to make them smell good. It’s so grounding to keep things simple sometimes and just play with the kids out doors.

Most days we would go out and explore, but since the grounds here were so lovely we found ourselves really enjoying staying close to home.

It also feels like the focus is 100% on the kids and they just love that. Looking at what they want to show me, and carrying them around. Annabelle loved smelling the pretty roses, Alexander enjoyed riding on my back and little Angelina running with her toes in the grass. Playing little games and laughing at their jokes. It’s so simple and quiet, and I think kids need that everyone in a while. I know I do!

Don’t get me wrong, shortly after “decompressing” and our little “exploration” we were once agin ready to hit the town and find a new adventure in France 🙂 🇫🇷  We ended the night with some tasty gelato and a walk through Nice.. ahhhhh, love the South of France..

We spent the afternoon walking around Cannes (it moved up to one of my favorite destinations in the South of France)- but you had to see the happiness of the children when they kicked off their little shoes and started to DANCE IN THE SAND !!!

It was like the sand was magic dust and they rolled in it, played in it, danced in it-sprinkled it all over their legs and each other. They were running and laughing, digging out the sand, putting their toes in the water.

I love to see my kids so happy and enjoying the beauty of nature. It made me want to live somewhere close to the beach.

We strolled through Cannes- so fun for shopping by the way. Beautiful shops and boutiques.

I bought a pair of gold flat shoes, a pair of pink Mary Jane flats, and a couple of little gifts for the kids.

The vibe is laid back but preppy. People look really nice but not over done. There is an easy going atmosphere in the air. Everyone seems happy, and always has a sweet and kind word for the kids.

We had absolutely no difficulty making our way through the town. I love how you can go from pretty little shopping streets and boutiques to being right on the beach with sand in your toes.

It also feels so good to stroll, and walk. People watching is also fun, the crowds are stylish and cosmopolitan. It’s also such an international community, a sea of accents and cultures.

This is definitely one of the things I miss most about Europe, being in a place where there is a mix of different people from different places.

I can’t wait to go back to Cannes, and I think the children feel the same. Unlike other years in the past, this year doesn’t feel as congested as year’s past, and not as hot either.

Can’t wait for our day to kick in tomorrow 🙂

Why can’t wearing a bikini for breakfast be a way of life?!!

I absolutely love being outdoors so much. We eat outside, read outside, hang out, I even caught up on some work outdoors. It’s so pretty and liberating. Makes you really reflect on how much time we spend indoors on a typical day…

How cute is this bikini though?!

I was searching high and low for something that was all tucked in. No need to be spilling out of my bikini while chasing kids around the pool-if you know what I mean. The last couple of years I’ve worn one pieces but they always seem sort of prudish and matronly. Although Target now has some cute ones, and I think one pieces are back in style-luckily.

I would dare to say that the swimsuit style of the season is the high waist bottoms. Two pieces but the bottoms are boy cut and cover the belly button.

I think that this is such a cute look. It hides enough and covers enough. I’d also say that this is such a flattering look for all shapes and body sizes.

The Pak Pak has some sales going on and they have these cute little ruffles right on the waist line.

I loved it so much I bought it in two colors. I’ve seen girls mix and match the tops and bottoms too which is also a fun idea.

I may not wear this style forever but right now, I still am not in my happiest body shape so this a God send till I am back where I want to be.

Stephany

I frequently get asked questions about what my favorite baby products and accessories of all time are.

It’s true that there are products today that I would tell my younger self to invest in, and other products that I would advise against.

One product I always loved but never had, was a sophisticated baby carrier. They always seemed a little bit more pricey than the other standard baby carriers, so I settled. Now that I’ve tried the LÍLLÉ baby carrier I wish that I hadn’t waited so long.

It’s light, cute, and easy to strap on. Putting it on feels the same as putting on a backpack. The cool thing about this product (and I’m a sucker for this) is that it is multifunctional! You can carry your baby in the front OR on your back!

This is the first time that I have carried a child on my back, and I loved it.

It kept my hands free, and the load was easier for my strong back to carry than pulling down on the front of my chest.

Angelina was very comfortable back there. It was like a piggy back ride only she was much more secure.

There were even a few moments were I sort of forgot that she was back there!

This product is definitely a Stephany’s Choice must have item. It would also make such a cute baby gift! It comes in different colors and can hold a child that weighs up to 60 lbs!! Wow!! Talk about a great investment piece!

Thank you so much to our favorite children’s store OLLIE & MAVE boutique for these gorgeous outfits!! We love soft high quality kid’s clothes and these are super stylish and adorable! I mean, did you see Alexander’s swimming trunks?!! It’s almost impossible to find cute boys clothes like this!

How happy is Annabelle, reading her very own Cover of Dallas Child Magazine?!! Thank you so much to the whole entire team for making us feel so welcome! This was definitely an opportunity of a life time.

I also want to give a shout out to the MS Dallas team for this gorgeous poster of Annabelle’s cover!! It is beautiful and we love it so much! The team there feels like family, and product and service is incredible.

Thank you so much for reading along! Hope you are having a fantastic week

This was the best day!! We just love the town of Antibes so much. Now with this cool ferris wheel, it adds a little cherry on top of an already charming place. The ABC letter statue is amazing and the views of the port and the sea are lovely. The village is so cute too, packed with restaurants and little tourist shops. We love to order the sea food pasta at dinner because it’s so fresh, light and tasty. The kids had plenty of space to run around and us adults love to poke in and out of the little stores. What isn’t shown in these pictures is a port where all the biggest boats are parked! This is so up Alexander’s alley and it’s actually fascinating to see these huge yachts next to each other, in all their grandeur . They are basically like mini homes, and are really beautiful. Everywhere we went we brought two strollers, one for Angel and one for Alexander. Even though Annabelle is 6 now, she was still hoping for a little stroller time and since we had enough adults that could push three strollers I think next time I’ll bring along another one (or at least buy one there). It definitely would have been more efficient to have her in one, and I think even though she is six it wouldn’t hurt to have a sitting option for her. The only hold up is stacking them in the car, and trying to squeeze into the tiny little restaurants in Europe. That’s why I always go for the smallest and skinniest umbrella strollers for travel- that can carry a larger child. I found this model and I love it. We have two of them and I’ve taken them two years in a row now and they are still in great shape. Everyone from Baby Angelina who was about 9 months at the time, all the way to Annabelle who was 6 could fit in happily and comfortably. There is also a Picasso museum in the village which I probably wouldn’t put at the tippy top of my priority list, but if you love museums and have time to kill it’s another fun thing we’ve done here before. And let me add, before we had all three kiddos, I think we went to the museum around 4 years ago when we only had Annabelle. For now, we are going to have to hold off on Art museums for a couple more years I think, haha. At least the outdoor space is spectacular ♥

I’m so ready for the Fall season to kick in already…Is it terrible to say I’m so over Summer this year. Something about those cozy Autumn days and nights I feel like I’m really craving. I think I’m also going to try to bake a little more this season, I absolutely adore acorn squash and think I’ll try to make some soon. The house smells so delicious and I love when there is something baking in the oven. I’m also thinking that it would make really good baby food for Angelina who seems to have taken a step back in eating solids.

Today she had the second part of her 2 part flu vaccine and now she’s taking a little nap. You can’t help but second guess yourself when the doctor asks you if you want to give your baby a flu shot. For some reason the word SHOT has this bad stigma to it. Now, with this whole autism epidemic you ask yourself, do the risks out way the benefits? Should I be partaking in somewhat “elective” shots for my child? Where do you draw the line to what is recommended vs what is necessary…I guess you never can truly predict the outcome of any given scenario. It sort of feels like when you play the goalie in soccer. You never get credit for when the team wins and you protect the goal but then if you let a shot through and the team loses it’s all your fault. I guess it sounds so cliche but the best thing to do is just to follow your instinct. We have a pediatrician that came highly recommended from a friend of ours, and as I always say when the doctor is asking if I’d like something or not, ” What do you recommend?” Because at the end of the day, even though I am a concerned parent, I’m not a medical expert. This is why we have doctors so we can go to them for their opinions and recommendations. Unfortunately, we can’t do everything on our own, we can’t be experts in every single aspect of our lives, and when it comes to our kiddos, the stakes are higher than ever. With a combination of being informed, interested, hiring a professional with direct experience and trusting my gut, I hope we can navigate the seasons ahead with as little bumps in the road as possible.

What do you think of trusting the doctor’s suggestions? Shots? Hope you have a wonderful day!!

This was the first time I had ever been to the sweet French costal city Menton. Famous for it’s historical church at the top of a winding staircase and lemon orchards. We parked the car and then walked through the town. Lots of little tourist boutiques and restaurants. I think I had the BEST frozen lemonade drink of my entire life there too. Squeezed fresh, sour and sweet, this was the perfect drink for a hot summer day. Right in the center of town is the cutest carousel that the kids rode on about a million times. This is one of the things I love most about European cities that we lack here in the US. Those little town squares and piazzas. We stopped for a lunch of fresh seafood pasta and then headed towards the lovely church that sits on the top of the town, nestled in the tiny apartments of the residential homes.  Climbing to the top was ambitious for the little ones so my mom stayed behind while my dad and I made the vertical hike to the top. The views were breathtaking, facing the sea…After finally completing our decline we were ready for a light bite and stopped for dinner at the restaurants right on the boardwalk. What’s so cool about observing the French and beach goers is how fun and carefree they are at the beach. Families in groves, including grandparents and babies and exentded family members of all shapes and sizes were having a ball. Typically when I’ve been to the beach in other locations people seem so self conscious of the way the look, etc. It was really refreshing to note how liberated these people were and reminded me to let go of my inhibitions and just enjoy the natural elements for what they are.

Stephany’s Choice: Dress: ASOS || Shoes: TOPSHOP || Clutch: ASOS

The day we went to Antibes was so beautiful. The ferris wheel wasn’t there last year when we went. It’s truly a toss up as to weather it’s more fun to ride it in the day or night. I think I enjoyed the daylight better, you can see a lot more, and further out. It’s a perfect view of both the city and the sea. As the ferris wheel is brand new, the lights are modern and change colors and everything is super clean and spotless. The kids had a blast riding in it, but there weren’t any belts and to be honest I was slightly freaking out the whole time. Usually I have zero fear of heights but being out numbered with three tiny kids and thinking of all the terrible scenarios that could happen was slightly unnerving. Having said that, they absolutely loved it, of course, and they may argue the best part is the cotton candy at the end. Hehe. Although my dress was pretty adorable (if I do say so myself ;)) It probably want the most practical thing I could have worn that day. It had these huge dramatic long bell sleeves, which I still adore, but days were warm and I would have been a lot happier in something lighter. I’d push this back a season and say this is more of a Spring or early Fall piece, hence- the reason I am posting it today! yay!

Although this particular dress has been sold out on the site, I’m still loving all the smock dresses and gingham looks. Angelina is defiantly still rocking her little onesie looks and she is so dang funny with her tiny little teeth peeping out! I love seeing her crack up at the tiniest thing. She smiles when she conquers an obstacle and I can see this total look of pride and accomplishment in her eyes. She gets so proud of herself. Sometimes she does this really cute move where she will pull herself up on her own and then do this little “bounce” dance move right at the end. She makes me laugh everyday and her spirit is so playful and uplifting. Kind of like a little puppy or something. Which makes me think.. It’s time to seriously start the Halloween costume organization! What are you thinking of dressing up as this Halloween?!

Stephany’s Choice: Bomber Jacket : FOREVER 21 || Shorts : H&M || Blouse: Similar here || Clutch: Similar here || T-Strap Heels : Similar here

So this is my end of Summer beginning of Fall style. I’m calling it the “transitional” look. It’s got deeper colors like your navy and blacks, but still has some warmer weather elements like shorts and open toe heels. This is kind of an awkward time of the year especially here in Dallas where it is still 100 degrees on a regular basis, but then there are pumpkins out, and Fall clothes in the store windows. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with wearing shorts all year round anyway. Some people choose to wear jeans all year round even when it is boiling hot, so I guess it’s the same in reverse for my short story too…What do you think about the Bomber jacket? Personally I stayed away from this look for a while because I thought that it would make me look rounder and seemed unflattering but I think I’ve been converted. It makes me feel cool wearing it, sort of edgy but it it’s pretty versatile too. My favorite Fall trends that have been forecasted are the open toe over the knee boots and I think I could totally rock them with this outfit. As of today however, I think I’ll keep this casual until temps cool down because I can’t even look at anything that’s going to completely cover my whole body now. Which piece do you think you would get the most wear out of this look?! Thoughts on the Bomber?
