I’ve been focusing really hard on my gym routine these last couple of months and it’s amazing how much happier I feel.

I never liked going to the gym in the past because obviously its easier to sit around and put your feed up-however, going to the gym is one of the only times in the whole day that for exactly one hour I am doing nothing else but focusing on my own mind and body.

Even when I take a shower I get interrupted a lot, which is sweet of course, but still… a moment to gather my thoughts and break a sweat does wonders for the soul.

I used to go to all the “classes” but I have put all that on hold for the moment. It was getting stressful scrambling to be there in time for the class, etc..

Now I just stick to the treadmill, plain and simple. I don’t go over board with it and never go over one hour a day.

My goal is always make sure I knock out at least 450 calories.

After the first 3o minutes I stop and stretch and take a water break and reenergize myself to kill the last half hour.

Sometimes I watch the news, other times I like to watch shows about remodeling homes, tasting food from all around the world, Seinfeld or even Friends.

Other times I like to crank up the music videos. Watching them is like a mini dance party. Each video is a few minutes and sometimes I find myself getting lost in them. Time flies.

When I want to jack up the pace and squeeze out some sweat I turn to my iPhone and put on my favorite jams.

Of course a great dress helps when you are thinking about Easter and what to wear for the fun family weekend.

When in doubt I go STRAIGHT to my favorite website StyleWe. You’ve probably heard me say this a thousand times before but they have thousands and thousands of dresses and options. For this dress I literally typed into the search button on the site: flower dress. It’s perfect for Spring and Church. Flirty, pretty and fresh. Currently sold out 🙁  But I also love this one, this one and this one!!!

(Also great for wedding season 😉 )

Hope you are all having a fabulous week! What’s your favorite part about working out?!!

XO,

Stephany

I frequently get asked questions about what my favorite baby products and accessories of all time are.

It’s true that there are products today that I would tell my younger self to invest in, and other products that I would advise against.

One product I always loved but never had, was a sophisticated baby carrier. They always seemed a little bit more pricey than the other standard baby carriers, so I settled. Now that I’ve tried the LÍLLÉ baby carrier I wish that I hadn’t waited so long.

It’s light, cute, and easy to strap on. Putting it on feels the same as putting on a backpack. The cool thing about this product (and I’m a sucker for this) is that it is multifunctional! You can carry your baby in the front OR on your back!

This is the first time that I have carried a child on my back, and I loved it.

It kept my hands free, and the load was easier for my strong back to carry than pulling down on the front of my chest.

Angelina was very comfortable back there. It was like a piggy back ride only she was much more secure.

There were even a few moments were I sort of forgot that she was back there!

This product is definitely a Stephany’s Choice must have item. It would also make such a cute baby gift! It comes in different colors and can hold a child that weighs up to 60 lbs!! Wow!! Talk about a great investment piece!

Thank you so much to our favorite children’s store OLLIE & MAVE boutique for these gorgeous outfits!! We love soft high quality kid’s clothes and these are super stylish and adorable! I mean, did you see Alexander’s swimming trunks?!! It’s almost impossible to find cute boys clothes like this!

How happy is Annabelle, reading her very own Cover of Dallas Child Magazine?!! Thank you so much to the whole entire team for making us feel so welcome! This was definitely an opportunity of a life time.

I also want to give a shout out to the MS Dallas team for this gorgeous poster of Annabelle’s cover!! It is beautiful and we love it so much! The team there feels like family, and product and service is incredible.

Thank you so much for reading along! Hope you are having a fantastic week

Weaning Angelina was something I had been dreading for probably 2 months before I actually pulled it off.

As a breastfeeding mother you are so focused on making sure that you have a consistent milk supply and that your baby is well fed you don’t really put as much thought into weaning your child.

At least I never did.

I fell in love with my baby on my breast. We would cuddle up so close and snuggle. I could smell her skin, look into her eyes, fold her cruncky legs into the creases of my arms and waist.

Sadly, all good things come to an end.

I tried to give Angelina a bottle of milk when she was around 13 months or so but she spat it out and made no effort to pick it up again.

Why would she? Plastic bottle, cold milk? Her whole life was cozy with mom, a soft touch, and warm sweet milk.

I delayed weaning a few more weeks then months. Finally, I started cutting out one feed a month. So for a month I didn’t nurse her between 9 am and 9pm. She could eat food, or I would try giving her the bottle.

Next, I would cut out the 10pm, 1 am feed. One after the next.

Eventually, she wouldn’t wake up at 10pm for a feed. Then she wouldn’t wake up till 3pm. It was starting to work. I was cutting back one feed at a time, very very slowly.

The only feeds that were left were the “pre-bedtime” feed and then the “3am” and “6am” feeds.

Every few weeks I would cut one feed out.

The final feeds left were the “pre-bedtime” and the “3am” feeds.

Finally, I got her to kind of take a bottle at bedtime, eventually she would sleep trough the night.

One morning she went out for Sunday breakfast with Michael and the kids. I woke up to an empty house. No baby to nurse.

She didn’t need me anymore. She was a big girl out to brekkie with the gang. I had a choice at that momemnt. I could feel sad and miss my sweet baby. Or I could take a shower , toss that nursing bra, and put on a non-button down blouse for the first time in a year and a half!!

So I did!!

A huge thank you to TwistShake bottles for helping me transition Angelina ! This was the only bottle she would come near. It comes in several gorgeous colors, easy to clean and has won multiple awards like baby product of the YEAR!! Wow!! Use coupon code: stephanykhayat20 and receive 20%  your entire purchase !!

Did you struggle with weaning your baby? would love to hear your thoughts below

Am I the only one who finds there is little or no time to prepare any kind of healthy fresh meal, continuously throughout the day?

By the time carpool is over, nap time is in full swing and I am showered and all caught up on email, I never seem to find anything healthy to eat in the fridge. The thought of preparing something nutritious is daunting. At times it’s easier to warm up some toast and alternate between peanut butter or jam. This leaves me unsatisfied and circling around for snacks, none of which include anything healthy or fresh 🙁

An hour or two later, I’m still hungry, feel sluggish and low on energy. UGH. Is it just me?!

Right, now I’m all about the short cuts. Whatever is going to give me extra time and whatever is easiest is what I end up going with. So when I heard about Snap Kitchen and their fresh easy meals I had to go check it out! When I went to my local store I was so excited about the big selection.  They had these cute little dishes all stacked up with fresh ingredients. I filled up my basket with a Greek salad for lunch, coconut soup for dinner, and lasagna for the next day! I even picked out some banana pancakes for Angelina as a snack.

The meals were the perfect size. Fresh, delicious and nutritious. The next time I went, I piled up dozens more to try! Chicken and beef, more salads and soups! Just click here to browse the menu. I wish they had these little healthy stores in Chicago when I worked in Downtown! The closest place to my office was a coffee shop and their healthy options were scarce! It would have been perfect to stock up on these fresh meals, they fit perfectly into my fridge and there is a wide selection.

With as many local ingredients as possible Snap Kitchen is in heavy rotation around here. I’ve even urged Michael to go and collect a few salads and meal options to pack for  the office.

Getting healthy is a lot easier. When I’m hungry and want a snack I’ll just grab one of the meals- I actually cannot get enough of the Greek Salad right now. I think I have at least one a day!! The menu has many different options, eventually I will try to expand my dish selections, haha.

My advice is, locate your local Snap Kitchen by clicking here. Head over there and stock up on a bunch of healthy meals, at least a few a day for 2 or three days to start. Pull out and warm your meals when you are hungry or pack them with you for a healthy snack on the go! Just like that easy peasy, you’ll be able to build in those healthy options in a SNAP 😉

If you live in the Chicago area you can even download this cool app!

Do you ever struggle with preparing healthy, fresh and nutritious meals for you or your family at home? Have you ever visited Snap Kitchen before?! Which is your favorite Snap Kitchen dish?!!! Write below in the comments and let me know, I’d love to hear your suggestions! Thank you for following along, what do you want to read about next time?! ♥

These Winter basics are on total repeat over here, and I’ve just added this non-momsy diaper bag to the top of my list. I’ve seen it around on other moms but never knew if it was a backpack, messenger bag,or briefcase.

Now that I’ve had mine for almost a week I have not taken it off. Really. I’ve moved in, and cannot see myself moving out. I haven’t used it for diapers-per say but it’s really been practical for everything else.

My favorite attributes are:

pockets –lots, both inside and out.

+

Two easy ways to wear it- backpack and messenger bag. I constantly go back and forth all day between the two. When I’m in a hurry I throw the messenger strap over my shoulder and run out the door. When I have a second and I need too hands, and no immediate need for wallet/ i phone access I put both stripes on for the backpack.

Zippers are chunky and gold (LOVE!) + easy to slide open and closed (yay)

Bag is not precious and already has popcorn inside and is holding up beautifully.

I love carrying it around, it looks expensive and modern. Not like a baby bag at all. By the way, the packaging was flawless, very high quality… this would be a lovely gift for a friend, sister, anyone you know that has kids or a baby on the way.

It comes in 3 or four colors, all pretty. I’m very happy with my light grey one– although there is a blush option that JUST came on the market, what I may have considered if it were available at the time.

Other basics on repeat include my cream knit hat that I bought in London years ago, shop a similar cashmere version here

My trusted ZARA boots, that match everything, and will go into Spring perfectly are sadly sold out but I like these just the same– they feel so Mod and there’s something really cool about that!

Sweet Angelina is wearing the same Little White Company cashmere sweater that I bought for Annabelle when we lived in London. Alexander wore it when we were in Toronto and now it’s Angelina’s turn. I love a good heirloom piece. Angelina hasn’t worn it as much as the others because, to tell you the truth we’ve only had to dig out these Winter layers a tiny handful of times this year!

Thank you to the FAWN DESIGN family for my gorgeous bag, I only feature things that I love, and this is right at the top of my list

Time management is something that I always struggled with.

I find that I am most productive when I have a list and a deadline. Of course balancing kids and trying to keep a deadline can be difficult.

I let go of a lot of stress when I prioritize. Sometimes, if I have too much on my plate and can’t get it all done I end up feeling like I’ve failed. This emotional set back makes it more difficult for me to muster up the courage to try again at times.

When I put together a logical timeline, I am able to allow a little flexibility for myself and the little ones. This makes it easier to cross things off my list, and motivates me to keep going.

I love to feel busy and productive. I hate to feel overwhelmed and frustrated.

One of my flaws (that I would never bring up at a job interview, haha) is working under pressure. I can do it, I’m just not very good at it. When we have 5 seconds to get out the door in the morning for an early doctor appointment, I end up crashing into furniture, can’t find my keys, lose my phone, and leaving in sneakers without socks.

I’ve learned a lot from Michael who has always been great with punctuality. One of the things I fell in love with him for was how time accurate and dependable he was. When he said he would pick me up at 6pm, he would be there at 6 pm. When he said he would call at 9:00 he would call at 9:00. He was someone that I could count on, and never played games with time.

I still have a tough time getting started in the mornings. Confession: I am not a morning person, never was, never will be. However, once I get started I feel unstoppable.

My saving grace is allowing myself to stop for breaks through out the day.

Having a routine also helps a lot. Now that Angelina is on a nap schedule (11-12:30) I can count on that time to do a little work, take a shower and have some lunch. That’s really all the time in the day that I need to myself.

All in all, it’s something I think I will constantly be trying to manage to make sure I get the most out of my day.

Over all the most important thing I have to keep in mind is never to waste it. Never to take one moment for granted.

I stumbled upon this little note the other day and I haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since:

The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.

-Henry David Thoreau

Am I the only one who misses my bronze legs come mid-January?!! I’ve found a make-up product that can help bring out your best features on your legs! I know that your legs are already perfect! But sometimes I really miss those summer bronze legs.

When I was asked to try out the new product, Say Hello To Sexy legs, I was pretty curious and excited to try it! It is the number one selling bronzing product at Sephora, and how cute is that packaging?!!

It comes with 3 bottles

A bronzer- a really pretty caramel color with a tad of shimmer, think Brazilian beach vibes 🙂

A highlighter- a champagne color. Apply right down the front bone of your leg. This is supposed to reflect the light and draw your eye inward-resulting in a sliming effect.

A contour stick- a deep caramel color, designed to add some definition to your leg.

You can use one of these, all of them or any combination of the three.

I really liked the bronzer. If I was in a hurry I would just apply that and my legs would instantly look tanned with a glow. If I had more time, I could dab a little champagne shimmer down the front of my leg for a silky smooth finish.

Over all, I probably wouldn’t use Say Hello To Sexy Legs on a daily basis, but would definitely use it for a night out. If I was going to wear something short, which is not unusual for me, and didn’t have a tan- this is the product I would go for.

I would use the bronze leg contour with caution. If you are going to rock the combination of all 3 products at one time,I would make sure they were really well blended into my skin. A little goes a long way. If you have fair colored skin, build in the bronzer slowly so you don’t have blotchy spots.

Like all bronzers, apply in the bathroom. I always use it AFTER I’ve already gotten dressed because I’m the worst under pressure! Seriously, when I’m out of time and trying to get to the door, I start crashing into furniture, can never find my keys, phone, ID, mind, NADA!!!

So if you are anything like me, do yourself a favor, build in a few mins to get this right. Don’t set yourself back by making a huge mess of it!

Verdict: I can see why this product is a top Sephora seller. Glossy, bronze, and easy to use. I would defiantly try it again, and the packaging is so cute!

Thank you so much, Say Hello To Sexy Legs for sharing this product with me!!

Have you ever used “body make-up” before?! Thanks for reading along!!

It’s the start of the new year and already I can feel like 2017 is going to be a good one. There are a few changes I want to make and some goals I’d like to achieve but over all I’m looking back at 2016 as a wonderful time.

There were many pieces of motivation and inspiration that I want to take with me into the new year. I’ve complied a list of my favorite quotes that I have collected over time. On tough days when I loose my focus or my confidence I look back on these words and they remind me of where I am, who I am and what I am striving to accomplish.

I hope to build on these words and stay true to the strength, courage and determination that they’ve given me. Of course, many times I forget, or get caught up in the moment and lose sight of what I’ve accomplished.

Like everyone else, I have days when I feel less than happy, able or valuable. I can’t lose my baby weight fast enough, have worn the same outfit 3 days in a row, haven’t washed my hair or taken it out of my messy bun in forever. Over all (in my defense, haha) I always try my best.

At the end of the day what more can you do?I try not to dwell on the bad and celebrate the good.

Below are a list of my go to quotes as of this past year

I never lose. I either win or I learn. -Nelson Mandela

A head full of fear has no place for dreams.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up.

She who dares wins.

Self confidence is the best outfit

Be so good they can’t ignore you. – Steve Martin

I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life- and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do- Georgia O’Keefe

She believed she could, so she did

I’ve found the key to happiness. Stay the hell away from assholes.

Listen, I wish I could tell you it gets better. But it doesn’t get better, YOU get better. -Joan Rivers

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. – GOETHE

As you can probably tell I’m a major dreamer with huge goals for myself, and low self confidence. I try to go for my dreams, and try not to let myself get into the way.

It’s a continuous battle, maybe the biggest struggle I’ve always faced.  I want to show my children that they can have whatever they dream of if they fight for it, never give up and do it the right way. The best example you can give your children is how you choose to live your life, because they are watching. I want them to be proud of me, and show them that anything is achieveable with hard work.

One of the most requested topics I get asked about from my readers is the story behind why and when I decided to launch my blog, Stephany’s Choice’.

I quit my corporate job at a market reasearch company in Downtown Chicago when I married Michael and we moved to London for his job. We had Annabelle soon after and I was so busy adapting to the new city, and new baby. I didn’t think a whole lot about my career at that time because my main focus was my new family. I knew, however, that I would eventually want to get back into the work force. Not back to corporate life. I needed something flexible because it was important for me to still be able to contribute my time to my kids and their schedules.

I really wanted a space to unload my creative juices and share my ideas. I didn’t know how or when to get started and what would be my first talking point.

After a lot of careful consideration I decided I would make my Instagram account public. I was stepping out of my private life and getting ready to share with the world a little peek into our daily life. I was 6 months pregnant at the time and I could not believe how encouraging the motherhood community was.

I put up my email in my Instagram profile and starting getting flooded with fun projects and collaboration requests.

PinkBlush Maternity was the first brand to send me several gorgeous maternity dresses. I packed them all up and took them with me to our summer holiday in the South of France. I think it’s the first time that I ever wore maternity clothes and they fit me perfectly. In fact, the bigger the bump the cuter the outfit looked!! haha. I will always have a special place in my heart for the PinkBlush team for giving me my first real opportunity.

After I started modeling/posting all the maternity looks, I started to recieve beauty items, kid’s clothes and accessories. Even little Angelina who wasn’t born yet was sent some baby wraps, creams and outfits.

As exciting as working with the best brands and wonderful businesses was, I felt like I needed a bigger platform.

I didn’t want to only share the outfits (although it was fun). I wanted to share more :my journey, my thoughts, lessons learned and point of view.

Instagram was a great starting point but I needed a place to explore further and dig deeper into subjects that interested me and respond to frequent questions from my readers.

But there was one problem! I was having a baby in 4 months.

Modeling cute dresses and reviewing them in a post is one thing, launching your own website and being the creator and editor is another! I wanted to make sure that it would be honest and true. I didn’t want to rush it, or put something out there that I wasn’t proud of or didn’t reflect me or my interests.

The last few months of my pregnancy, I worked really hard to create Stephany’s Choice, and go LIVE before I had my baby.

I was able to launch Stephany’s Choice in September 2015, 3 months before Angelina was born in November.

I am so happy I did. If you want to start your blog, a new job, or any dream I would urge you to just go for it. There really isn’t ever a perfect time and you can always tweak things along the way!

Let me know if you have any questions?!! I love getting your feedback, thanks for reading along.

A special thank you PinkBlush for your support, trust and friendship

And just like that Christmas is over. Typically I would be having Christmas withdrawals but this time I think I’m ready to celebrate the new year.

Now that Annabelle and Alexander are getting older it’s a lot more pressure to try to find them gifts that they will love. More importantly we try to keep things fair for the two of them.

Alexander got a big, huge, police car (his dream come true). All he wanted this year was a police car with,”lots of buttons, two seats, a siren, and it can go forward and backward”.. Annabelle is super into dolls this year and just wanted an American Girl doll. We ordered one that looked like her with blonde hair and green eyes which she promptly named, “Antoinette”.

I was freaking out on Christmas eve because Michael and my dad assembled the police car and it was totally massive. It took up my whole kitchen floor. When I looked over at the doll it seemed so small in comparison. So, we started to wrap tons of other gifts for Annabelle to try to make up for her “smaller” sized pile.

Two years ago we bought Alexander the perfect gift, one of those non battery operated cars and he loved it. I don’t think he even knew what else was under the tree. He spent the whole day jumping in and out of his car.We expected the same thing this year. All he would want to do was get in and get out.

To our surprise, all he wanted to do was unwrap gifts. In the end we put him in charge of unwrapping gifts for everyone. He opened all of Angelina’s 2 presents (haha) and all of mine. I’m not sure he was all that worried about what was in them. I think the thrill and surprise factor was what was he enjoyed.

Annabelle loved everything she got. She seemed really happy. All random and small gifts went into the stockings. DVDs, coloring books, fresh socks, some sweets, etc… It was a first for stockings and a huge hit.

The best part of the whole day was when my Grandparents arrived at noon for lunch. It made our day complete. The kids were so excited to show them what Santa got them.

My mom brought the kids metallic sneakers that lit up into flashing colored lights. Annabelle and Alexander put on a dance performance with their neon shoes. Watching them move so freely and so happily made eveything worth it.It wasn’t what they recieved or how much they received that made their day special. It was the feeling that they were heard, they were important, and that Santa thought they were very “good” this year. It was having their Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, Uncles, Mom and Dad with them all morning and afternoon. We admired them, listened to them and cheered on their performances.

In the end, cliche or not, it was these moments, that made our day special. They are the most important things in the world and they are my gift, everyday of the year.
