Hair BASICS!!

I always get asked about my hair! It’s fun to talk about HAIR!

Especially when I’m feeling pretty happy about mine!

The last time I felt happy about my hair was when I was 15 or so, then on and off for years and years. My hair routine has simplified tremendously over the last few years ( thank you motherhood, ha!) More often than not I feel like I am leaning to a more natural look.

I have few products, but I value high quality stuff. My routine hardly changes. After lots of tweaking, and trying all different items and gadgets I’ve whittled it down to this short list of Hair Basics.

(However, spending time in the shampoo and hair care line is hardly my idea of torture :))

My pretty simple hair basics that I live by

use tons of conditioner

let hair air dry

brush hair very very delicately + as sparingly as possible

keep it natural- my hair is straight so I don’t try to add any curl to it

use good quality products

– I love this cute Sariskiz wood comb that comes in several different colors! It comes with a little pouch + is great for on the go primping 🙂 I love this Yellowheart shade, in a banana color.

Read more about my hair routine here and here!!

Do you have any go to hair tips?! Let me know in the comments below!!

Just over here, keeping the positive vibes flowing!

I’m the first person to admit that I’m definitely a work in progress. But I do have to say in the last couple of years or so I’ve removed a lot of negative shackles in my life and feel so much better for it. I’m only trying to focus on the positive.

I feel so much lighter and when you push out the dark clouds in your skies, it allows for more cracks of sunshine to beam through.

It took me years to see a little clarity here because I always had so much going on, school, friends, traveling, family. Then one day, marriage, work, children, etc.. the list never ends, and I never really stopped to take stock of my life and how I could remove negative energy from it.

I’m mainly talking about negative people. I don’t mean ‘negative’ in the sense of people that are always looking at the dark side of things( although that can be unhealthy too). I’m talking about people that don’t support YOU! They may be sitting there with you, talking to you listening to you. They may even throw a compliment your way every now and again. But I’ve recognized after meeting truly pure, kind, and supportive friends, how rotten the ‘bad’ ones actually were.

Because I am a loyal person, and a people pleaser it took me WAY too long to identify these people. I also felt obligated to keep them around?!

I always made excuses like these

this person has always been in my life

this person was there at the time when I went through this tough phase

this person is related/connected to someone I love so I have to put up with them

this person is part of my family

I know this person so I have to put up with them

Honestly, no I don’t. I’m not saying I’m perfect, and don’t make mistakes or that I have always been a flawless friend, or person. Absolutely not. However, I know my own truth and that there are people who are truly happy for me and want me to be successful in my dreams and there are those who don’t. I’ll get off my soap box on this note- you are valuable and important , if someone doesn’t believe thats true or make you feel that way, cut them out and make room for someone NEW!!

My QUOTE OF THE DAY

How they treat you is how they feel about you, believe them

Know your worth!!

XO,

Stephany

This was the big Bite Night event on Thursday evening!! It was so much fun, we ended up dancing to old high school classic beats, haha!! 👇🏻❤️

Stephany Bowman, Editor of Stephany's Choice and friends, at the BITE NIGHT event for the Chefs for Farmers food festival in Dallas, Texas

Chefs For Farmers is the most fabulous food and wine festival in Dallas, and beyond!

I was so thrilled to break out my cowboy boots, round up my favorite moms and head out for some fun music and food- right here in our backyard.

On Thursday evening, we attended the famous ‘Bite Night’ event, and it absolutely blew me away.

When we walked up to the entrance all the little lights were sparkling above us. There was a beautiful display of fruit and vegetable baskets, and the music indicated a fun night of upbeat vibes!

We sampled various wines, and then walked around, stopping at different food stations along the way.

I really enjoyed meeting the different chefs, indulged in their tasty bites, and admired their beautiful dish presentations. Every single chef I met had a lovely spirit, a big smile, and was so enthusiastic to share a taste of their craft.

People were laughing, and enjoying the night.

Towards the end we placed our little “pig” voting chips in our favorite chef’s bucket. Winners were announced, and everyone felt like a winner.

We even broke out a few dance moves ourselves, and I’m not going to lie, it was really nice to just let loose and have some fun.

A few days later, on Sunday, was the ‘Main Event’ at Lee Park.

My dear and special friend Iris Midler (founder of Chefs for Farmers) invited me be one of the judges for the afternoon’s big AWARDS!! I was so excited to select the winner for the team with with the “Best Display”!!

It was a tough decision but after carefully walking through a few times I chose FT33 as the winner!!

Congratulations!! 🌟

FT33 WIN for BEST DISPLAY!

it smelled smoky good!

the chefs working the booth were personable + had great energy

the wagu beef tacos with radish were pretty, and very tasty

the overall feel of the stand was earthy; It felt like we were out in the woods and not under a tent

Congratulations to all the winners, and everyone who made it so hard to choose!!

I cannot wait till next year, the CFF team knocked this one out of the park!

Thank you again to the incredible Iris Midler and the whole Chefs For Farmers team for an impeccable event and a lifetime of wonderful memories!!

Cheers + till next year, CFF!!

On days when my hair feels really brittle and needs extra conditioning I leave the Argan Oil Instant Repairing MASK for several minutes 💗

Stephany Bowman Editor of Stephany's Choice, with ULTIMATE MOROCCAN ARGAN OIL hair care system

I love love love Moroccan Argan Oil products for my hair! That’s why I am a fan of the Ultimate Moroccan Argan Oil Sulphate Free Series.

One of my most frequently asked questions is about my hair and how I maintain the color, length and strength.

My two main tips for keeping my hair strong and healthy

a deep conditioning mask used weekly if not daily, like this one

no heat or hot styling products used on hair- my hair would just break off if I used any electric styling tools

Read more about my best hair practices here

These products can be used on all hair types, are Sulphate and Paraben free.

They gently clean your hair with Argan oil, and I would use the hydrating conditioner  generously. I absolutely  always use hair conditioner after I shampoo.

When I was younger I would sometimes skip putting on conditioner because I was always in such a hurry and didn’t want to take the time to leave it in for several minitus and then rinse it out. As a result I feel like my hair was harder to manage, had more tangles and broke easily because I was impatient and aggressive when trying to manage it.

Today, I know just a little care in choosing the right products and taking the time to nurture your locks goes a long way.

After I get out of the shower I’ll gently comb my hair and then tie it up in a big clip to ‘air dry’, naturally.

My hair is stronger now than it has ever been and a lot easier to manage.

Thank you to ULIMATE Moroccan Argan Oil for this wonderful haircare system 💗

We love being around books and that makes the library and the book store a popular destination for us! All the kids love to go, and since it’s been raining on and off this past week, being indoors has never been easier.

I love being around books too. It’s so fun to see what kind of reading material each child is drawn to, and how it changes over time.

Alexander is 4.5 and he loves the Bernstein Bear books and a few of the Dr. Seuss ones too.

Annabelle also enjoys the Bernstein Bear books ( she reads them to herself now!) and all stories Princess, Barbie, and Pinkalicious.  I love it, really sweet and girly.

Angelina is almost 2!! ( read here for more on when I was pregnant 2 years ago!!) She LOVES to read and is really into everything we cover.

Last week I read a “learn to potty” book and she really absorbed it! So much so that 2 nights ago she used her potty successfully for the very first time, all on her own initiative !! I was so shocked. I thought we were going to spend days and weeks covering the “concept” of the potty together, so I really think the book helped a lot. Probably doesn’t hurt that she’s been watching her brother and sister go too. I guess those are some of the benefits of being the youngest of 3 kids!

Thank you to Kute ‘n’ Koo for this adorable diaper bag! So modern and pretty, with a really cute aqua changing mat inside, tons of pockets too! Great for a trip to the library! Treat yourself or a mom you love!

Another thank you to our longtime parters TWISTSHAKE bottles for these beautiful beakers that are made for kids as little as Angelina, to as “big” as big sissy, Annabelle.

Don’t forget to use my discount code: STEPHANY40 + get 20% off your entire purchase!!

We love their high quality products, since Angelina began the weaning process a few months ago, click here to read more about that transition!!

Thanks for reading along, happy Friday!

Love these new sunnies from DIFF Eyewear. It feels great to spread the positive and charitable message behind this company ; for every pair of sunglasses you buy, they send a pair of reading glasses to someone in need.

I absolutely adore this message and business model. What a great way to treat yourself, and someone else. I hope that it catches on and becomes even more “trendy” to work with businesses like this. Not only that but these sunglasses are super cute, come in a bunch of really pretty colors, and are super flattering on the face.

Sometimes I feel so rushed and flustered in the morning when I’m taking Alexander to school and then start running my errands the only thing that I feel I can hide behind are a cute pair of sunnies!!!

Am I the only one?!!

This gold shade is darling and matches everything, the color feels new and sophisticated, and the price is really reasonable.

Thank you DIFF Eyewear for my newest Fall accessory!

Use discount code: STEPHANY 25 and get 25% off!!

You’re welcome- don’t forget you’ll have extra good feels, because you’ll be treating someone else in need to a pair of reading glasses 💗

Stephany’s Choice: JEANS || TOP || SHOES

Angelina’s Choice: DRESS similar || SIMILAR HEAD PIECE

Love my new jeans from Mott and Bow! So excited to have something I can move into when it starts to get too chilly for my denim cutoffs I’ve been wearing all summer.

My friend asked me the other day, “do you wear jeans”. I guess the answer is “of course!” but then again, I haven’t worn jeans I feel really happy in, in years. Angelina will be two in November and ever since I became pregnant with her, until this point I’ve been living in stretchy pants, dresses, or shorts.

These skinnies are a really comfy and soft, the motto of the company is “affordable” and “high quality”. I say it hits both of those marks. I picked out this black color because I loved the slits on the thighs but my second choice would be these skinny grey ones.

If you’re looking for cute jeans for fall and want quality at a fair price, I urge you to check out MOTT AND BOW. You’ll be happy you did.

PS. Jeans are true to size and if you are between sizes , go down a size because they will stretch a little 😉

Hope you have a fab week, don’t forget to take it easy on yourself, and remember- you got this!!

Stephany

Angelina is almost 20 months old!! So, I thought it might be fun to do a milestone post today!!

Mentally she surprises me every single day!

Already, she can speak a handful of words:

Mama + MOM!

Dah (Daddy)

Ball (Annabelle)

Oufff (dog)

UP!! (self explanatory)

Ya?!

Nooooooo…

Hiyyyyeee

Byeee

Pop (lolly pop)

App (Apple Juice)

Physically, Angelina can run after Annabelle and Alexander, feed herself with a spoon or fork- with  almost no spills. She loves to color with markers- particularly NOT on paper 😅 I’ve even caught her trying to roll by on her scooter.

When I ask her where something is, she does the cutest little shrug with her shoulders and opens her hands out in front of her 🤷🏼‍♀️. hehe.

She mainly loves to tag along with Alexander. I think these two are really close buds. Wherever Alexander is, Angelina is pretty close behind. She’ll even play cars with him.

Angelina’s two favorite places to be right now are at the playground and at the swimming pool! She loves bing in the water.

One thing she doesn’t like…The vacuum!!

Angelina seemingly understands a lot of what’s going on around her. If I’m in the living room, and I ask her to throw something away, she’ll grab the item and dash off into the kitchen to find the garbage.

Today we saw a bird at the park and I said,”give the bird a piece of your pop corn”.. And she DID!

When Angelina is hungry, she pulls me ” up” and points the direction with her finger all the way to the kitchen. Then she’ll try to open the fridge. Luckly she hasn’t mastered this skill yet but she will point to what she’d like to eat in the fridge and if I chose the wrong thing she says,” NO!!” 😂  She definitely knows what she wants and I think that’s an excellent quality to have. Even if she is very bossy!!

As far as potty training goes I now understand parents that start the transition early. I bet I could get Angelina to start the first steps any day. When she has a dirty diaper I ask, ” do you have a poo poo?!” She nods. Then I follow her all the way to the changing table!!

I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 months now since we welcomed this sweet little girl into our hearts (read about Angelina at the hospital the day she was born here). It feels like we just celebrated Angelina’s first birthday  yesterday.

Thank you so much to Bohobee Design for these stunning custom made dresses for the girls. If you are looking for special dresses for your little one or a little girl that you love I cannot stress enough how much we love these pieces. They also make wonderful “Mommy and me” dresses if you want to match. Great for weddings, birthday parties and summer!

Hope you have a wonderful day,

XO,

Stephany

We are all about making easy, non messy and healthy meal options right now. Gerber®️ has a new clever Smart Flow ™️ toddler pouch that helps make mealtimes a lot easier. With this clever spout, the baby food doesn’t just spill out of the pouch like the old days. There is a new sophisticated spout so that Angelina doesn’t just squeeze all the food out and make a huge mess!!

Now that she wants to do everything on her own, walk up the steps, put on her shoes, and feed herself- messes are almost unavoidable. Sometimes I feel like we spend more time cleaning up the meal, than putting it all together.

I know all us mothers are so busy all the time, so I’ve put together a quick list of 5 ways to make mealtime easier with a toddler:

  1. Make sure your toddler is eating in a spot that is easy to clean up after!- keep the mess in the kitchen and keep baby in the high chair
  2. Let your toddler feed themselves with a simple to eat snack (raspberries, bananas, puffs, Gerber®️ Smart Flow™️ ) while you slip in healthy bites of toddler’s main dish!
  3. Keep it simple. One dish is more than enough variety for your toddler at any one meal time. Don’t over stress yourself with providing a variety of foods, that is what snack time is for!
  4. Sometimes we are on the go when it’s close to meal time and tricky to find something safe and appropriate for your little one to snack on… This baby pouch is super easy to pack with you when you are not at home and want something healthy, safe and fuss free to enjoy.
  5. Make meal time fun! Let your little one watch you feed them or take turns feeding each other 🙂

You can head over to Ahold or Kroger and download a coupon to use next time you purchase Gerber ®️ Smart Flow ™️ Pouches (coupon only available while supplies last).

We love this super cute and healthy option, no forks, no spoons, no plates and no clean up necessary! With this clever cap, baby food is under control. In the old days, the kids would hold onto the pouches and the baby food would go spilling out over the top and getting on all the clothes-making a huge mess!

Mess free- right here!!

Thank you for reading along! What is your favorite mealtime secret?!

This post is sponsored by Blue Apron, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Easy Meals are all I want to be preparing right now. If it’s not easy, and it’s probably not going to happen. Blue Apron has such delicious meals, all fresh and hormone free. They send them right to your door step, and every single ingredient that you could ever need for the recipe is included in the package-in EXACT MEASUREMENTS! Wow!

I spent the weekend cooking with my dad and we had so much fun following along with the recipe and putting it all together.

To be really honest with you, I’ve never even cooked Pork Chops before! I never really knew what to do with them or how to prepare them?! Seemed so scary for some reason , but with the simple steps all broken down and perfect quantities from Blue Apron, it was pretty fool proof.

The whole process was so easy.

A box shows up at my door step with 3 meals for 2 adults.

Inside the box are 3 recipes, one for each meal. The recipes are clear, colorful and simple to follow.

There are spices, vegetables and meats all included for each individual dish!

I ordered a salmon, pork and chicken meal.

Today, my dad and I prepared the Pork Chops and it was so fun and stress free. We didn’t have to measure anything, or waste one moment at the grocery store. It was simple, easy and so delicious. It was actually more than enough for the both of us and the kids too! They loved it.  Annabelle loved the pork chops, Alexander and Angelina loved the potatoes.

I would definately use this service again.

Even my folks were impressed and wanted to know what other recipes were available on Blue Apron.

If you are in a pinch for time, are picky about fresh ingredients, or simply want to try out something new with no stress- Blue Apron is an awesome solution!

If you go to Blue Apron now you can even get $30 off when you sign up for your first meal!

As a busy mom of 3 little ones, with little time, and even less new meal ideas, I say give Blue Apron a try!

I’m sure you and your family are going to LOVE it!

Thank you for reading along,
