Hair BASICS!!

I always get asked about my hair! It’s fun to talk about HAIR!

Especially when I’m feeling pretty happy about mine!

The last time I felt happy about my hair was when I was 15 or so, then on and off for years and years. My hair routine has simplified tremendously over the last few years ( thank you motherhood, ha!) More often than not I feel like I am leaning to a more natural look.

I have few products, but I value high quality stuff. My routine hardly changes. After lots of tweaking, and trying all different items and gadgets I’ve whittled it down to this short list of Hair Basics.

(However, spending time in the shampoo and hair care line is hardly my idea of torture :))

My pretty simple hair basics that I live by

use tons of conditioner

let hair air dry

brush hair very very delicately + as sparingly as possible

keep it natural- my hair is straight so I don’t try to add any curl to it

use good quality products

– I love this cute Sariskiz wood comb that comes in several different colors! It comes with a little pouch + is great for on the go primping 🙂 I love this Yellowheart shade, in a banana color.

On days when my hair feels really brittle and needs extra conditioning I leave the Argan Oil Instant Repairing MASK for several minutes 💗

Stephany Bowman Editor of Stephany's Choice, with ULTIMATE MOROCCAN ARGAN OIL hair care system

I love love love Moroccan Argan Oil products for my hair! That’s why I am a fan of the Ultimate Moroccan Argan Oil Sulphate Free Series.

One of my most frequently asked questions is about my hair and how I maintain the color, length and strength.

My two main tips for keeping my hair strong and healthy

a deep conditioning mask used weekly if not daily, like this one

no heat or hot styling products used on hair- my hair would just break off if I used any electric styling tools

Read more about my best hair practices here

These products can be used on all hair types, are Sulphate and Paraben free.

They gently clean your hair with Argan oil, and I would use the hydrating conditioner  generously. I absolutely  always use hair conditioner after I shampoo.

When I was younger I would sometimes skip putting on conditioner because I was always in such a hurry and didn’t want to take the time to leave it in for several minitus and then rinse it out. As a result I feel like my hair was harder to manage, had more tangles and broke easily because I was impatient and aggressive when trying to manage it.

Today, I know just a little care in choosing the right products and taking the time to nurture your locks goes a long way.

After I get out of the shower I’ll gently comb my hair and then tie it up in a big clip to ‘air dry’, naturally.

My hair is stronger now than it has ever been and a lot easier to manage.

Thank you to ULIMATE Moroccan Argan Oil for this wonderful haircare system 💗

XO,

Stephany

Am I the only one who misses my bronze legs come mid-January?!! I’ve found a make-up product that can help bring out your best features on your legs! I know that your legs are already perfect! But sometimes I really miss those summer bronze legs.

When I was asked to try out the new product, Say Hello To Sexy legs, I was pretty curious and excited to try it! It is the number one selling bronzing product at Sephora, and how cute is that packaging?!!

It comes with 3 bottles

A bronzer- a really pretty caramel color with a tad of shimmer, think Brazilian beach vibes 🙂

A highlighter- a champagne color. Apply right down the front bone of your leg. This is supposed to reflect the light and draw your eye inward-resulting in a sliming effect.

A contour stick- a deep caramel color, designed to add some definition to your leg.

You can use one of these, all of them or any combination of the three.

I really liked the bronzer. If I was in a hurry I would just apply that and my legs would instantly look tanned with a glow. If I had more time, I could dab a little champagne shimmer down the front of my leg for a silky smooth finish.

Over all, I probably wouldn’t use Say Hello To Sexy Legs on a daily basis, but would definitely use it for a night out. If I was going to wear something short, which is not unusual for me, and didn’t have a tan- this is the product I would go for.

I would use the bronze leg contour with caution. If you are going to rock the combination of all 3 products at one time,I would make sure they were really well blended into my skin. A little goes a long way. If you have fair colored skin, build in the bronzer slowly so you don’t have blotchy spots.

Like all bronzers, apply in the bathroom. I always use it AFTER I’ve already gotten dressed because I’m the worst under pressure! Seriously, when I’m out of time and trying to get to the door, I start crashing into furniture, can never find my keys, phone, ID, mind, NADA!!!

So if you are anything like me, do yourself a favor, build in a few mins to get this right. Don’t set yourself back by making a huge mess of it!

Verdict: I can see why this product is a top Sephora seller. Glossy, bronze, and easy to use. I would defiantly try it again, and the packaging is so cute!

Thank you so much, Say Hello To Sexy Legs for sharing this product with me!!

Have you ever used “body make-up” before?! Thanks for reading along!!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! Breaking out all my favorite holiday decorations and clothes. I think we were a little late this year. Everything seems to be catching up to us so quickly. I can’t believe we are exactly 2 weeks away already.

I finally ordered Annabelle’s American Girl doll. She was between 2 dolls, a Samantha doll and a “just like me” doll. In the end I put on a little pressure on her to make a decision and choose one. She went with the look-a-like doll. I ordered one with long blonde hair, bangs, fair skin and green eyes. Yay! What a relief. So many items on the site had already sold out. I guess I can’t fully exhale until it arrives in the mail.

Michael ordered an electric car from Amazon for Alexander. A police car I think. I hope he loves it! It’s pretty much going to be the only thing he gets for Christmas. Rolling the dice here…

Angelina is getting nothing. I think this is probably the last year we can get away with that. Maybe some ice cream?

Let’s talk lipstick!! I’m so obsessed with bright holiday reds!! Wow! I never really did a red lip before but something about putting on red lips makes you feel so dressy and makes me want to stand up a lot straighter all of a sudden. Also, white teeth. I feel like my teeth look so much brighter instantly when I apply a darker or brighter shade.

When I put on the red, I tone down all my other features so I don’t end up looking like a clown.

Today, I’ve also done something a little different with my hair. I’ve parted it in a zig-zag to cover up my roots. I used to go for highlight touchups once every three months but find myself going a lot more often these days. Probably about once every 2 months.

This is exactly what I ask for: Mini partial + Baby Blonde

That’s it. I don’t even let them blow dry my hair, brush or cut it. I bring in my own detangle spray and my favorite brush. I find that if I’m not the one brushing my own hair a lot of it gets broken off.

I also want to discuss this too cute diaper bag from Logan + Lenora. They are producing the cutest waterproof bags for moms. This one is the perfect size, easy to clean and is so cute to take around. I even slipped in my lipstick inside.

5 Basic items in my Logan + Lenora Diaper bag:

Diapers

Wet wipes

Disposable Changing pad

Tissue

Lipstick

Yes lipstick because, we’re in the bathroom any way right? Haha. I never used to include items for myself. I’ve come along way. I still try to keep things as simple as possible. That’s probably going to be my motto for the new year, keep things simple. I think this has helped me a lot in general. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with my daily to dos and run arounds and then I just have to take a deep breath.

I guess I have one week left, because kids are out of school on Friday! Ekkk, This Santa needs to kick things into high gear. At least I can look festive in this cute holiday sweater right?!!!

I’d like to introduce you to my ultimate Coffee drink and my favorite fedora. Good hair day, bad hair day, no hair day, this is the best friend you never knew you had! It’s the perfect color, matches everything and nothing says ‘boho babe’ like a great hat! I love this heather gray one, but did you see this cherry red color!! It’s so festive and cute. I think red is my new favorite color, I see it everywhere and I just bought a great red lipstick to boot! Next on my wish list is the perfect leather red clutch. Maybe an oxblood red? Something sleek and pretty, I’m going to challenge myself to find one before the holidays and try to take advantage of those Black Friday weekend sales!!!

But honestly, there are few things in the world more pleasant in the world than an extended holiday weekend. After having 2 days off from the crazy routine that is everyday life it’s a total relief to know that we still have two more days before “real life” kicks in.

One of my favorite past times on the weekend, and probably the week days too, is grabbing coffee at our local coffee shop. I think my perfect office would be by the window or outside under a parasol of a busy city cafe. Laptop in front of me, punching away at the keyboard and sipping on my favorite coffee drink of choice.

What’s that you say?! Well let me share it with you now..

Say Hello to the SKIVEL

Tall

Extra hot

Decaf (until nursing is complete ;))

Skinny

Vanilla

Latte

That’s it! Extra hot because it always gets cold by the time I take my first sip (hey, installing the baby chair into the car seat and packing up the stroller takes more than just a minute!). Decaf-because like I said, breastfeeding. Skinny because I wish I was! Vanilla syrup is like a tiny treat to kick off my day. Actually Vanilla has always been my favorite flavor/scent. Ice cream, perfume, etc… And a latte: lots of creamy milk and a shot of espresso.

Viola! I also always ask for a Venti Cup of ice water to stay hydrated. It fits perfectly into my left cup holder on the stroller and Angelina loves it too:)

I used to be completely obsessed with drinking water and these days I’ve been slipping behind. Could it be that weaning Angelina has made me less conscious of what I’m drinking? Perhaps. I bought a bottle of whole milk at the beginning of Thanksgiving break, thinking that it would be the best time to start weaning her but it’s just sitting in my fridge. Unopened. Soon we will hit the 13 month mark of nursing. I think 13 months sounds like a nice number to stop at *deep breath* let’s try and see if I can do it…Update soon, watch this space.

Ps. It’s our anniversary in a couple of week’s what should I get Michael for our 7 years? Is there some kind of tradition that you need for 7? Other than an itch?!! 😉 ♥

Stephany’s Choice: Playsuit: TOPSHOP-sold out ; Similar Here || Bow : Similar here || Heels: Similar Here || Bag : LOUIS VUITTON, Similar here || Stretch Mark lotion: Marie D’Argan

I often get asked about my beauty routine and which products and rituals I swear by. A few favorites that I can’t live with out are products for my hair, and lotion for my face and body. If I don’t adequately moisturize I feel like my skin is dry and irritable all day and never fully set into my own skin. I don’t even like to get dressed if I haven’t put on cream and good cream isn’t easy to come by.

When choosing which lotion to purchase at the drug store I’ve gotten it wrong many times. Buying something for dry irritable skin sounds promising but when I bring the product home to try it I’m disappointed to see how thick, heavy and it is awkward to apply. On the other hand buying a cream that’s cheap or not creamy enough feels runny, slippery and I never actually get that nice soft moisturized feel I’m looking for. Haha. Like I said, I’ve had my fair share of trials and tribulations!

I’m not the expert on skin either, but lucky for me at this time in my life it doesn’t seem like I have any stretch marks yet. Now of course I may have inherited other battles, but I think as far as stretch marks go I’m on the lucky side of the genetics here. This doesn’t mean that I won’t monitor my skin and listen to my body. I will definity keep my eyes open for preventative measures and am willing to try anything that can keep my skin as smooth as possible. I think I have a tendency to have dry skin. Although I moisturize my face daily so it doesn’t look flaky when I put foundation on.

When I tried Marie D’Argan’s moisture rich body lotion I instantly loved it. The texture and consistency was perfection. The smell divine. The bottle is the perfect size and it’s a pump, my favorite application. Its main ingredient is 100% pure argan oil made from the best argan seeds hand-picked by a women’s co-op based in Morocco. Their products are high quality and free of parabens, sulfates, SLS and phthalates. This is safe and even recommended for pregnant woman for use to minimize stretch marks. I use this all over my body once daily after I shower, but they suggest you apply generously, and twice daily. Marie D’Argan has various other products in their range, including some oils for hair and skin. All their products smell wonderful and make a really lovely Christmas gift if you’re looking to spoil someone you love (yes, that includes YOU too!)

I love that they use pure, natural and organic oils. I find myself moving closer to natural products these days. I’m trying to eat clean and avoid packaged food if I can help it. Even my choices for skin products are simpler and more natural.

When I’m at home and I feel like having a sweet treat I pick out an apple instead of raiding the cookie box (most of the time :)) I must say I feel better for it. I hate to admit it but ever since having Angelina I’ve been battling adult acne again. It seems to come back on and off right around my jaw line.  It’s so frustrating and I think I break out a lot more when I wear make up. My favorite make up is thick creamy matte make up so maybe my pores are crying!! So on days that I “don’t need” to wear any make up I go without. At first, I was so shy and embarrassed to be caught with a bare face in public. Now I love it, I think my skin is healthier and I break out way less.

Anyway, I guess it’s all kind of a balancing act and I’m still trying to get that perfect balance between what products will help me and which ones will set me back. If I come upon anything else I love, I’ll certainly share it here.

Let me know if there is a product that you love? Have you tried using natural and organic beauty products?

Thanks for reading along.

Thank you to the Marie D’Argan team for sharing these wonderful lotions with me!

Loving this time of the year, the hot weather has subsided and it feels like such a relief. I love all the Autumn feels out there too, people seem to have slowed down a little and that cozy holiday anticipation is in the air… I remember this time last year I had Angel in my belly and was counting down the weeks till her arrival. I had no idea if she was a boy or a girl and the excitement was unparalleled. This year she is here and now we are a blessed family of five. I love her even more than I could have ever dreamed and the children love her too. This will be her first Halloween and her first birthday coming up so I’m trying my best to stay organized and plan ahead. I’ve already ordered costumes for the family and Angel’s birthday outfit. I hope it all comes together and that everyone is happy with the outfits I’ve chosen. I’ve been ordering more and more products online these days. I find it to be a lot more efficient, and I no longer use up all my time, car space and energy on picking up and carrying around bulky items. So far the main products I purchase online are toilet rolls, diapers, wet wipes, kleenex, basically most toiletries and now recently I’m shopping more and more of my wardrobe online too. I always buy my personalized items online because it’s just easier to pick and choose through all the options and you can take your time choosing what you want to buy. Etsy is still my all time favorite for hand crafted pieces, I’ve bought most of Angelina’s birthday wear from there. Amazon for the day to day products, including children’s books, office supplies and baby food. My top sites for clothing are ASOS and Nordstrom, basically these two stores will never let me down. Target is also great for kids items, and Net-a-porter for special occasions and novalty pieces. Any time I want my logo on something I shop at Zazzle, I’m always pleased with the quality and they deliver on time, every time. What would I do without all these shipping friends of mine?! I’d probably be just fine I’m sure, but it sure saves this mama a lot of time…When are they going to come up with a Starbucks delivery service?!! Count me in!!!

Thank you so much for reading along with me, please leave any questions or comments below in the comments section, I love to hear from you, HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!

Special thank you to my awesome photographer ASHLEY AMERMAN
