Happy birthday to our little TWO year old, Angel!!

I cannot believe I’m actually saying, “my two year old”!! Oh my goodness how did these 2 years fly by so quickly?!! I remember that beautiful day on November 1st when she was born, click here to read about our first days in the hospital!!

Actually, I feel like the first year was sort of a blur (click here to read about the 1st year recap!!) , and then the second year was a flash…

I wanted to dedicate this post life update to Angelina. I’m always so worried I will forget the little things that they do, the cute little moments, actions and words. So, I have put together a little list of some of the cute words/ sentences that she says that make me laugh and smile.

Funny words

Oh la la

Wow!!

Oh my GOD

Ew, gross! (sounds like goss)

peeeeeeze? (please)

woof ( for a dog)

Angelina goes everywhere with me, preferably in sparkly shoes or big sister’s cowboy boots + a purse with a lollypop inside Her favorite snacks are goldfish (never miss an opportunity to stock up at a Target check out line ?).

Angelina’s favorite song is Twinkle Twinkle.

She’ll only wear dresses that pass the ‘swish’ test (exclusively tutus) and says “Wow!!” to her own reflection in the mirror once she’s accomplished that goal – (no, she did not learn that from me ??‍♀️).

Angelina’s trained herself to use the potty. She can count to ten, sing ABCs and flash a Miss America wave from the passenger’s seat of her big brother’s police car.

Angel loves to whisper secret jokes in her daddy’s ear. She pretends to be a puppy, and loves putting on mommy’s lipstick – EVERYWHERE ?

Her favorite person in the whole world is her big brother, Alexander ?

Angel, you are getting heavier to carry and that makes me a little sad because you are my baby, but I’ll always squeeze you so tight in my heart forever ?

I love being your mom.

You are a precious gift from God.

I love you, mommy

Happy First Birthday Angelina!

Happy Birthday to my sweet little Angel, Angelina Luella Bowman! I cannot believe how quickly this year went by. Two nights ago we went Trick-or-Treating and it brought so many memories back from last year. I was heavily pregnant (obviously) and had such a busy day. My mom was in town to help with the baby preparations and we were buzzing around town trying to get everything perfect for Halloween night. We thought we had 5 more days since I was signed up for a scheduled C-section. What we didn’t plan for was later that night I would have terrible pain. Shooting cramps. We called the hospital several times but all they said was “take a bath” or “it’s just cramps”. Finally at around 9 am after a terrible night of pain and stress, and a lot of lost blood: Panic starts to set in. I’m thinking the worst. My mom threw a bathrobe on me and basically pushed Michael and me out the door. I’m so lucky she was able to stay with Bella and Xander so we could rush to the hospital’s emergency room.

It was Sunday morning post Halloween night and the streets were sober and empty. I remember being terrified and just sobbing the whole car ride. Had we waited too long? What were we thinking? Why didn’t we just go to the hospital for a check-up instead of just waiting and waiting at home. I mean, I was 9 months pregnant and scheduled for birth days later?! I’m really happy that everything went smoothly because there was a moment in that car where I questioned everything. Time froze and all I could do was pray and hope. When we arrived to the ER moments later and I was an absolute mess. In tears, exhausted (bloody?!) and in full hysterical panic mode. All I wanted to hear was my baby’s heartbeat and all I wanted to see was my babies face.

Thankfully, the nurse did a quick ultrasound and we could hear the heartbeat, strong, steady. Beautiful. Michael had a flight to Canada that afternoon and so he was on the phone trying to cancel all his reservations. I can’t believe how nonchalant we were. Playing around with nature’s time lines. We weren’t ready for baby but baby was ready for us. So, just like that, they pushed us to the top of the emergency C-section list. We would be the first ones to have a baby in the surgery room that morning.

Before you know it, I am being wheeled into the the sterile, cold room where my child will be born. Shots, tubes, epidural, lights, masks, gowns, gloves… Curtain goes up, husband by my side, hand squeezes, tears of joy, tears of humbleness. And then, the most beautiful sound in the world. Her. Her little, tiny, precious, strong, little voice. The anesthesiologist whispers under his breath, “it’s a girl”, and the nurse announces “It’s a beautiful little girl of a strawberry blonde complexion”. Weight. Height. Then finally in my arms.

She was beautiful, she was perfect, here she is, and she was mine, and I was hers. She had her daddy’s nose, and my eyes. She was small but strong. She had a little crease at the top of her nose and little ears. Wispy hair, and long fingers. Soft buttery skin. I fell in love at first sight.

After we arrived to our room she nursed like a dream. Then for hours and days, nurse, water, sleep. Repeat. Michael sent a message to my mom at home, she must have been so worried!! “We have a beautiful little girl!!” It was such a wonderful surprise, we thought that it was going to be a boy the whole time. Not that we knew for sure, we decided to keep it a surprise this time and it sure was. The kids arrived a little later that day, Annabelle seemed concerned that it was a girl at first. Possibly a little worried about the competition( you should see how much they adore each other now!!). Alexander loved her right away. He told my mom on the way home that “Angelina is my best friend”!! So sweet.

We didn’t have any baby girl names picked out. We did have a short list of boy names that we had to throw out the window! We didn’t want to choose an “A” name just so it could match. We wanted to choose something we loved. We did feel, however, that it had to have the same weight and feeling of the other two. So we went back to the list of names that we could remember that we liked when we were picking out Annabelle’s name. Suddenly out of the blue Michael says, ” what about Angelina?” And it was perfect. Mom rushed out to the store with Annabelle to find some girly baby clothes, and show Michael which stroller and carseat we had been looking at. After a couple of days I was strong enough to take a shower and move around the room a little. Angelina never left my side, not for one single moment. She was a great feeder and loved to be tucked into my arms. I slept with her on my chest and she was my only focus. The kids came to visit after school for a couple of hours each time.

At the end of my hospital stay I was back on my feet and ready to come home again. We strapped her in her car seat, and brought her home. I can’t imagine my life without her. She wakes up with a huge smile every single day. She gives big hugs and laughs easily. She can walk a few steps and reaches her little arms out like she wants to give you a hug!! She walks with a look of pure concentration and determination on her face, ending up with a giant smile. She can say “mama”, high five with her daddy, eat popcorn, play blocks with her big brother, and dolls with her sissy. She still has no hair but her head feels like a warm fuzzy little peach. I love you so much my sweet baby, I am so blessed that I get to be your mom on this amazing adventure together.

Happy SEVENTH birthday to our sweet girl Annabelle Leigh Bowman!!

Born on a beautiful sunny day  in London, England!!

On this special day I can’t help but reflect on the moment you were brought into the world.

We knew that you were coming on May 25th, because we had scheduled a C-section for that morning.

Why a C-section?

2 weeks before you were born we had a standard routine ultrasound to make sure everything was ok, and they discovered that you were Breech ( a position where the baby’s head is not pointing in the downward position). According to our Doctor, there is a universal agreement that 100% of breech baby cases should be delivered via C-section. If you pull the baby out by the legs the baby’s head could get stuck, lose oxygen and suffer trauma to the brain.

How did I feel about this?

Bad. I was desperately hoping for as natural of a birthing processes as possible.

Good. Because I could organize myself to anticipate that date and time and not worry about being on my own + unprepared for the unpredictability of a natural birth.

Fast forward to the big day:

I wore a bright yellow shirt, my mom, Michael and I WALKED a mile to the hospital. We were so excited. It was a beautiful and sunny Spring day in London. The city was just waking up and was sparkling.

( 3 days later I would walk the same route home a mother + my brand new baby!!)

Laying out on the operating table was very unnerving. I was anxious and worried. A lot of tugging and pulling later… and THERE SHE WAS!! They dropped the curtain and this wide-eyed, teeny tiny little body, with steel-sharpe blue eyes- was scanning the room!! Oh my goodness. I burst right into tears, I was so emotional. There she was this wonderful little thing. In my arms.

She never left my side, as they wheeled us into our room. I stayed up all night. The nurses came in and told me- “you should get some sleep”, and “sleep when the baby sleeps”. Who could sleep?! I just looked at her, and hoped that she would wake up ?

I didn’t leave my bed for days, until finally the nurses convinced me to wheel Annabelle into the nursery for a bath. They were playing the Spice Girls in the room! All the other little babies were there and I was so surprised to see how tiny Annabelle was compared to them.

I struggled with nursing in the beginning and I had no idea what I was doing. I felt a lot of pressure because she seemed so little, and I didn’t feel like she could afford to lose any more weight. My breasts became engorged and I went from discomfort to pain and stress. Luckily it was time to go home, which allowed me to take some time to figure out a rhythm and find my stride.

Nursing was my number one stressor when I had Annabelle. I had no idea what to do. Very few of my friends at the time had babies themselves and I didn’t know any that were nursing.

My mom really encouraged me to continue and I ended up breastfeeding exclusively for 6 moths. I am very proud of myself to this day, because this was one of the most difficult times of my life as a mother. Read Alexander’s birth story here!

Today, I have my now Second Grade princess!! I love and adore her fun and smart sprit.

So…Happy 7th Birthday to our creative, crafty, card shark, princess!!

Belle, Bella, Belly Bee, Anniebelle, Belli, AB, Annabelli, Bananabelle, Annabelle Bowman!!

Lover of all things glitter, sparkle, pink, unicorn, fancy, curly, medical, sinister, fluffy, sugary, sweet, cheeky, cozy, and girly!!

Keeping up with you has been an adventure, I can’t wait to see what magic you continue to create!

Thank you for giving me the best gift ever, being your mom!

I love you so much + your huge sparkly green eyes, and single toothy grin ?

Happy 4th birthday to our darling sweet boy Alexander London Bowman.

We love you so much. You are beautiful inside and out. To know you is to love you. You have such a kind and generous sprit. I learn from your optimistic character everyday! You always say things like, ” well that was silly” and laugh things off when they don’t go your way. You celebrate the littlest milestones and victories-like finding a parking spot,” We love this spot right Mom?!” Or close calls,” that was lucky right?!”  😉

Today is your birthday and I’m thinking of the day you were born in London, England 4 years ago.

Your daddy and I left Annabelle at home with Grandma and took a London taxi to the hospital first thing in the morning. I had my hospital bag packed. I had just taken a shower and my hair was still wet.

It was a foggy and misty London day in January. The streets were quiet and the cab ride took less than 5 mins. We were so excited to meet you that we arrived to the waiting room early. Your lovely Doctor came over and introduced herself. It was the first time we met her. The whole surgery team was all women and they made us feel warm and comfortable. I was so excited and ready to meet you.

We were relaxed and happy.

I waited patiently on the surgery table. A little tug and a pull, then the first sign,”his head is larger than I thought” 🙂 Next thing you know this beautiful little red boy is waived across my body, and starts sailing around the room. Hardly any crying at all.

When they placed you in my arms I burst into tears. When we looked into each others eyes the world stopped. You were soft, you were sweet. We had already met. We had known each other for a long long time. Of course we shared the some body for almost a year. It was more than that.  We just looked at each other and there was such a calmness. It was love at first sight.

The nurses wheeled us into my room, with you in my arms. Daddy went to get Grandma and Annabelle. We worked on nursing and cuddling. You latched like a pro, haha. The nurse said,”he is very good at breastfeeding”. I was so proud of you already. You were tiny and sweet. A perfect weight and steadily growing. We spent the first two days at the hospital nursing and sleeping on repeat.

The first time we left our room was to visit the pediatricians office. I wheeled you over there in your little crib cart. You were all wrapped up in your swaddle like a burrito. Cozy, comfy and secure. The nurses loved you and helped me change your little nappy.

On the third and last day Daddy took Annabelle home and Grandma stayed with me while I signed all the check out papers. A nurse walked us down to the lobby. We put on your violet leopard print fleece onesie with a hoodie and hailed a London cab! “To Marlybone please, Sir!”

No wonder you love Taxis so much, haha.

Never forget that I will love you forever. You make me so proud, the world is better because you are here. I love being your mom.

Happy Birthday Alexander the Great.

So it’s my birthday!! Can’t believe that another year has gone by. This year was so special. I was secretly pregnant with Angelina last year on my birthday and this year I get to hold her tight in my arms! I feel like all my dreams have come true. I woke up to breakfast in bed, and the cutest surprise birthday party. Michael took one of my pictures and put it on my cake with hashtags like “#33” and “#RHOD” (Real Housewives of Dallas) and at the top was a “@stephany” hehe. The kids were buzzing around the cake forever and ended up pinching most of the blue icing off the frame,” to make sure it tastes juuuuuuuuth right”! Ha! Everything is more crazy and more wonderful with my favorite little party guests.

My goals for this year as of this moment are pretty simple

Live in the moment

Leaving the phone behind, sitting down to listen to a story, singing out loud to the song on the radio, and reminding my children how much I adore them are all front and center of where I want to be. I never want to miss an opportunity to hear their little voices, follow along to their favorite music and stop everything for a sweet cuddle.

Have balance

I need to make sure that I take a moment every day to ensure that each child is getting the love and attention they need and that I am able to carve time out for my own health, creative outlets and exercise. Now that I insist on walking every morning to the coffee shop I feel a lot happier for the rest of the day and think that overall the quality of my life has improved a lot. I also want to incorporate more date nights because I think that is also important for our relationship and vital to have a little fun without the children.

Set targets for myself

Some of my most important highlights since having children is when they overcome an obstacle or a challenge. I too have to set challenges and targets for myself to achieve personally and professionally. Carving out alone time to work isn’t always easy, but the balance of having a creative outlet makes me feel well rounded and have something to work on outside of the home. I have weekly, monthly, short term and long term visions.

Have fun

I never want to take things too seriously if they aren’t. I know life is good right now, and we can be as laid back and silly as we want to be! Play twister, eat the cupcake, run outside, bake cookies, read silly books, and build in time for margaritas and guacamole!!

Give back

I owe a ton of my good fortune to the kindness of others. My parents have helped us so much, my neighbors have been so kind. Sometimes just a kind word, a knowing smile, and helping hand can change the coarse of a persons day, week, year, life. I am so inspired by the kind hearts of these people that have helped us with nothing to gain for themselves that I too hope to be one who can love unconditionally, help a friend, child, family, or even stranger in need.

All red everything! There is only one color that matters this fall season and it is RED! I bought this entire outfit from a shop in San Remo, Italy this summer with my mom. We noticed that everything in all the stores was this bright red color, and we loved it.

I wore this look to a friend’s birthday a few weeks ago and this girl came up to me and said, “wow I love how the whole outfit is one color including the shoes, I never would have thought to match EVERYTHING”

That was a big compliment, and I was really flattered that someone noticed the detail of having everything coordinated. But you don’t have to fly all the way to Europe to get this style!

All you need are these basic pieces

Blazer

Dress

High heels

That’s it, super easy. Now you have a full look that you can wear throughout the season and into the holidays. I loved wearing red on Christmas Day last year with this cute outfit here! If you want to pop, and make a statement choose a fun color like red, cobalt blue, or even bright white!

If you want to appear more classic and prefer to choose something that you can wear repetitively without making as much of a statement choose black, navy, cream or even a deep green.

This is a fool proof look you can wear to meetings, dinners, or even running errands.

I love to wear my high heels when I’m not with the kids, but I have a pair of red ballet flats I can trade my high heels in for, when I’m hanging with my little ones.

My little Minnie, Angelina, hasn’t miss a beat either! She rocked her red look with her little ruby  Mary Janes and would have loved to have worn red lipstick too!

Now she takes a little purse with her everywhere she goes! Trying to be just like mama!!

Angelina is almost 20 months old!! So, I thought it might be fun to do a milestone post today!!

Mentally she surprises me every single day!

Already, she can speak a handful of words:

Mama + MOM!

Dah (Daddy)

Ball (Annabelle)

Oufff (dog)

UP!! (self explanatory)

Ya?!

Nooooooo…

Hiyyyyeee

Byeee

Pop (lolly pop)

App (Apple Juice)

Physically, Angelina can run after Annabelle and Alexander, feed herself with a spoon or fork- with  almost no spills. She loves to color with markers- particularly NOT on paper ? I’ve even caught her trying to roll by on her scooter.

When I ask her where something is, she does the cutest little shrug with her shoulders and opens her hands out in front of her ??‍♀️. hehe.

She mainly loves to tag along with Alexander. I think these two are really close buds. Wherever Alexander is, Angelina is pretty close behind. She’ll even play cars with him.

Angelina’s two favorite places to be right now are at the playground and at the swimming pool! She loves bing in the water.

One thing she doesn’t like…The vacuum!!

Angelina seemingly understands a lot of what’s going on around her. If I’m in the living room, and I ask her to throw something away, she’ll grab the item and dash off into the kitchen to find the garbage.

Today we saw a bird at the park and I said,”give the bird a piece of your pop corn”.. And she DID!

When Angelina is hungry, she pulls me ” up” and points the direction with her finger all the way to the kitchen. Then she’ll try to open the fridge. Luckly she hasn’t mastered this skill yet but she will point to what she’d like to eat in the fridge and if I chose the wrong thing she says,” NO!!” ?  She definitely knows what she wants and I think that’s an excellent quality to have. Even if she is very bossy!!

As far as potty training goes I now understand parents that start the transition early. I bet I could get Angelina to start the first steps any day. When she has a dirty diaper I ask, ” do you have a poo poo?!” She nods. Then I follow her all the way to the changing table!!

I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 months now since we welcomed this sweet little girl into our hearts (read about Angelina at the hospital the day she was born here). It feels like we just celebrated Angelina’s first birthday  yesterday.

Thank you so much to Bohobee Design for these stunning custom made dresses for the girls. If you are looking for special dresses for your little one or a little girl that you love I cannot stress enough how much we love these pieces. They also make wonderful “Mommy and me” dresses if you want to match. Great for weddings, birthday parties and summer!

Hope you have a wonderful day,

XO,

Stephany

Just a couple more weeks till Angel’s first birthday and all I can think about is this time last year. Being pregnant with my third child was very different from my other pregnancies. First of all, it flew by a lot quicker than the first two. I’m not quite sure why that is, probably the obvious reason is that I was so pre-occupied with the older two so I had less time to count down the days. Second of all, I had a lot more fun when I was pregnant with Angelina. I wasn’t as worried about my changing body, trying to eat perfectly, or over planning what nursery items and baby products I may need. I was a lot more relaxed and just enjoyed it for what it was. I totally celebrated my bump. When I was carrying Annabelle I was almost shy and embarrassed about my new body. A lot of the time I was wearing over sized baggy clothes, and sort of keeping the whole thing low key. With my second child, Alexander, I do remember having a ball of a time eating and eating pretty much whatever I wanted all the time..haha, yes I think I may have taken it way too far putting on above 25 pounds I’m pretty sure. I’m not 100% sure because towards the end of all my pregnancies I sort of refuse to weigh myself. In the end, I feel like the due date is fast approaching and I don’t really want to know what my weight is. There is little you can do to manage your weight at that time anyway, so I feel like it’s sort of pointless to monitor the change in the last week.

I certainly have the most maternity pictures with Angelina in my belly than the other two combined. I think this is a combination of what I had mentioned earlier about celebrating my body a lot more, and posting constant updates on social media. Seeing a whole new community of other mothers showing off their precious bumps inspired me to also open up about happiness to show off my own bump. Also when I was pregnant with Angelina, my final child, I felt a tiny sense of “oh my goodness, I will never carry a baby again in my womb”, and that reminded me how fleeting the moment was and when it’s over (and it does certainly come to an end) it’s so final. Seeing this process come full circle a few times, made me really hold on to the beauty of that journey. Ironically, the most important part of all is when it comes to a wondrous end…or rather, a beautiful beginning

Loving this time of the year, the hot weather has subsided and it feels like such a relief. I love all the Autumn feels out there too, people seem to have slowed down a little and that cozy holiday anticipation is in the air… I remember this time last year I had Angel in my belly and was counting down the weeks till her arrival. I had no idea if she was a boy or a girl and the excitement was unparalleled. This year she is here and now we are a blessed family of five. I love her even more than I could have ever dreamed and the children love her too. This will be her first Halloween and her first birthday coming up so I’m trying my best to stay organized and plan ahead. I’ve already ordered costumes for the family and Angel’s birthday outfit. I hope it all comes together and that everyone is happy with the outfits I’ve chosen. I’ve been ordering more and more products online these days. I find it to be a lot more efficient, and I no longer use up all my time, car space and energy on picking up and carrying around bulky items. So far the main products I purchase online are toilet rolls, diapers, wet wipes, kleenex, basically most toiletries and now recently I’m shopping more and more of my wardrobe online too. I always buy my personalized items online because it’s just easier to pick and choose through all the options and you can take your time choosing what you want to buy. Etsy is still my all time favorite for hand crafted pieces, I’ve bought most of Angelina’s birthday wear from there. Amazon for the day to day products, including children’s books, office supplies and baby food. My top sites for clothing are ASOS and Nordstrom, basically these two stores will never let me down. Target is also great for kids items, and Net-a-porter for special occasions and novalty pieces. Any time I want my logo on something I shop at Zazzle, I’m always pleased with the quality and they deliver on time, every time. What would I do without all these shipping friends of mine?! I’d probably be just fine I’m sure, but it sure saves this mama a lot of time…When are they going to come up with a Starbucks delivery service?!! Count me in!!!

It’s hot hot hot here in Texas so wearing ice blue may have been a subconscious color choice! We’ve been swimming as much as possible and the kids are having a great time at their summer camps. This leaves me a lot of free time with little Angelina and I know for now she is still on MY schedule. So, we’ve been touring the Dallas Art District. So many awesome galleries and Antique stores. What I love so much about antique stores is not only the beauty and value of the pieces, but the history and the stories they bring with them. Feeling nostalgic and dreamy vibes all day.

I dressed up Angelina in her cute gold crown and picked out metallic accessories for my look. This can easily be a day to night outfit, and the metallics are surprisingly neutral.

I have put together my 3 reasons why metallic accessories are your best buy for the season:

They go with everything

Metalics, such as gold, silver, bronze match any color or pattern. Consider them lucid like water, or shiny like hair. They are just a drop of sparkle and shine and are fool proof if you are in a shoe, purse or jewelry jam!

Dress them up or down

Consider metallic items like a diamond ring. You can wear them in the day or in the evening. The day time look will feel light and etherial because metallics are almost like a “glass slipper” invisible but pretty. In the evening they will drop to the background but if they reflect light they will appear bright and edgy

Mix and match

Gold, silver, bronze, or champagne are all in the same color family. If you have a gold watch you can pair it with silver earrings, or bright pink shoes, mixing and matching is fun and easy.
